Amenazas de Bomba con Inteligencia Artificial: ¿Puede la Policía Rastrear al Responsable?
Artificial intelligence is creating new challenges for schools and law enforcement as increasingly sophisticated tools can be used to generate realistic voices, messages and other communications. A California high school received a second consecutive bomb threat reportedly involving artificial intelligence, prompting authorities to implement security procedures and investigate the origin of the communication.
Technology and cybersecurity expert Juan Guevara explains that authorities cannot simply dismiss a threat because artificial intelligence may have been involved. When public safety is potentially at risk, law enforcement must investigate the threat while determining whether it is credible.
AI-generated content also does not necessarily make its creator anonymous. Phone numbers, accounts, online services and other technical information can potentially create a digital trail that investigators may analyze when attempting to determine who originated a threat.
The incident highlights a growing challenge surrounding malicious uses of artificial intelligence and raises broader questions about cybersecurity, public safety and whether existing laws are prepared to address crimes committed with increasingly powerful AI tools.
